Study visit to Finland

Between 23 and 30 January 2011, a group of five employees of the IBE Science Section (PPP) paid a study visit to Helsinki and Jyvaskyla (about 270 km north-east of Helsinki) in Finland. The main purpose of the visit was to gain better understanding of:
- Finnish education system at ISCED level II;
- methods and forms of school work and teaching conditions for science subjects;
- teacher education and in-service training in Finland..
Seminar: Changes in Student Performance since 2000

On 10 February 2011, a seminar was held at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister in Warsaw on the results of The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2000–2009.
.IBE has joined a network promoting the use of evidence-based policy and practice in education

Since January 2011, IBE has been a member of a network of European institutions working together to promote "evidence-based policy and practice" in education.
The network comprises 34 partner organisations from 23 European countries. These include academic centres as well as research institutes and other institutions interested in promoting the use of educational research results in educational practice, sharing knowledge, making reliable research results more accessible, enhancing their synthesis, as well as accumulating best practices.
.Student Assessment Systems in Schools

The Educational Research Institute has launched a Student Assessment in Schools study. Its aim is to provide an insight into school assessment systems with special attention given to the role of formative assessment, and the extent to which the in-school systems differ.
