He holds a PhD in Humanities. Co-founder and since 2004 the chair of the Board of the Polish Society of Educational Diagnostics. Between 1988 and 1990 he coordinated national research on the use of computers in education as part of an international IEA project “the Comped Study.” From 1990 to 1999 he ran the Regional Methodological Centre in Kraków and, later on, in the years 1999-2007 he was the Deputy Head and the Head of the Regional Examination Board in Kraków.
In 2007-2009, as one of the projects implemented by the Central Examination Board under Priority III, Measure 3.2. on the improvement of tools for the national examination system of the Human Capital Operational Programme, he supervised the project related to “Monitoring examiner influence and paving the ground for introducing electronic marking." "Creating an IT system for e-marking” is a continuation of this project.
