The Mathematics Section efforts focus on issues of teaching methods of mathematics.
The section's mission is to improve the quality of teaching mathematics by building research capabilities, teaching tools, evaluation tools, and exploitation of research results as well as implementing new solutions in everyday school practice.
.The Section's activities cover three planes. The first concerning the diagnosis of the current state of school education in mathematics. The issues include: examination of the implementation of the provisions of the new core curriculum in mathematics, detailed assessment of students' mathematical competences with a particular emphasis on the mastery of complex skills, the diagnosis of the determinants of mathematics education, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the Polish school in mathematics education. The second plane covers the development of new teaching tools, implementation of best practices and new educational solutions.
The third plane focus is on the assessment of the teaching tools and their effectiveness in improving the quality of mathematics education in Polish schools.
One of the most important aspects of the Section's activities is the exchange of ideas and the broadest possible cooperation with teachers, schools, institutions, NGOs as well as domestic and foreign research centers.
