The aim of the research project "Determinants of Educational Decisions - Household Panel Study" is to devise the methodology and research tools which, will in the long-term, allow for systematic evaluation of the effectiveness of public activity in education and for an initial measurement of the internal factors and external conditions influencing the educational decisions made in households and by individuals.

The basis of the project will be the collection and analysis of data concerning individual households (including incomes, education, and professional mobility) which show the dynamics of the behaviour of their members on the education and employment markets in the context of changes in the socio-economic situation.

The panel character of the study will enable us to trace the educational and professional fortunes of household members, resulting in the creation of an education and career path typology, to monitor educational and career choices in light of the changing conditions (such as the economic situation, educational policy, and labour market policy) and to observe educational plans, the degree to which they are implemented and the introduction of modification in subsequent periods.
