The study “Core Curriculum and Subject Teaching Methods Development in the Opinions of Teachers, Head Teachers and Students” was carried out as part of the IBE project “Good teaching practices in Polish science teaching”.
.The main aims of the research were to identify the factors influencing the quality of education in science subjects and to discover the degree to which teachers and school principals are familiar with the new curriculum, taking into account their attitude to the changes in the teaching of science and outlining the limitations which hinder the introduction of certain requirements of the new curriculum in science subjects (including the teaching of complex skills and scientific understanding, conducting experiments during lessons and the implementation of block teaching).
The research was qualitative in character using Focus Group Interview (FGI) and In-Depth Interview (IDI) methods.
The research was concluded in December 2010 and its results have been presented in four reports prepared by Millward Brown SMG/KRC. A final report, prepared by the Section, will soon be presented.
