The aim of the "Study on the Implementation of the New History Core Curriculum in Lower Secondary Schools” is to outline to what extent the premises of the curriculum have been put into practice, as well as to identify and analyze the conditional factors for the effectiveness of its introduction.

.

The study is being conducted in the third year of the new curriculum (from October to December 2011) and focuses in particular on what role the teaching of complex skills, which are crucial in the development of ‘historical’ thinking and other elements of a historian’s methodology, plays in the teaching process. The development of these skills was one of the priorities of the new curriculum. Another aim of the study is also to identify good practices in the teaching of history in lower secondary school.

The study consists of four elements: lesson observation, individual interviews with teachers, assessment of complex skills using answer sheets and interviews with groups of pupils.
