Educational Research Database

Published on Saturday, 25 June 2011 17:03

The Educational Research Institute is undertaking a systemic project to strengthen the research base of the educational system and support the introduction of a national educational policy based on the results of academic research.

Our activities are concerned with educational research in a wide sense. We are interested in research on different levels, from preschool through to high school, and even adult education, and in various forms of learning, formal as well as informal, in Poland. This involves completed research as well as research being carried out. The database will contain a description of the research being carried out in different academic disciplines: from psychology, pedagogy and sociology, to economics, law and political sciences. The database will also include within its scope research carried out in didactic subjects.

Questionnaire

In the interests of establishing a complete database, we have decided to send out a questionnaire to Polish researchers interested in these issues. The aim of the questionnaire is to identify research which should be included in the database.

The questionnaire consists of three parts. In the first part please provide information concerning educational research in which you have personally taken part as the director or a member of a research team. In the second part please provide information about research carried out by employees, but without your personal involvement, in the institute in which you work. The third part of the questionnaire deals with educational research in general within your academic discipline.

Copyright

BIBE is protected by the Data Protection Act of 27.07.2001. Information from this database may be used by copying or secondary use of a non-essential section of content. However, repeated and systematic copying or reuse inconsistent with normal use and leading to an unjustified infringement of the proper interests of IBE is not permitted.

In creating BIBE we have gone to great lengths to fully respect the personal copyright of those academics who have carried out the research and those who are owners of copyright property. Please contact IBE immediately if anyone from this group considers that these rights have, however, in some way been infringed and we will take action to ensure that this matter is resolved. Please take into account that information we have gathered is often incomplete or contains mistakes. Therefore, despite our efforts, the BIBE may contain mistakes, for which we apologize in advance.

TESE

TESE, the Thesaurus for Education Systems in Europe, is a multilingual dictionary containing a carefully selected list of entries, called descriptors, connected with the educational systems of Europe. TESE was designed by the Eurydice network as a tool for indexing databases. The thesaurus is currently being used in documentation centres of European universities, ministries of education, national agencies concerned with education and other organizations connected with education.

At BIBE we use the TESE 2009 edition:

In the interests of promoting high research standards and with reference to the piloting and standardization of research, we are planning at BIBE plus to make public not only research reports but also the tools, data sets and technical documentation, including the properties of the psychometric scales and testing tools, which we use.
